Sippers were first created by our ancestors to protect the feet from natural elements. For the modern man, however, footwear is a means of protection as well as persona. But, getting back to our ancestors, the skin of animals they hunted for food was dried and shaped into kind of slip-ons. We can only assume that gradually embellishments were added to the footwear for purely aesthetic purposes.
